Afghanistan - Pt 2

The History Files Archives: episode 064

When the cholera comes -- as it will past a doubt -- Keep out of the wet and don't go on the shout, For the sickness gets in as the liquor dies out, An' it crumples the young British soldier. —Rudyard Kipling, “The Young British Soldier”

This episode originally aired in August of 2016 and is part two of a four-part series. First installment here.

From the original show notes: In part two of our series on Afghanistan, we discuss the devastating consequences of colonizing attempts in a region that really, really doesn’t want outside influence. With a healthy dose of home court advantage, the 1st and 2nd Afghan wars showed just how horrific the results can be.
